We are proud to present our first Music Composition Contest here at Fwunk.com. We are naming this event as "August Rush" because it is now August in 2010 and because it is a title of a movie about a kid who brings people together through music.
Your composition will be judged by other members on the following criteria:
- Originality
- Creativity
- Expressiveness
- Quality
The rules are very simple:
- Keep the music under 6 minutes but at least 4 minutes long
- Copyrighted samples or loops may not be used.
- Melodies MUST be original.
- The composition can not be based on someone else's work (that means no derivatives or "fan music").
Also, you must agree to the following:
- You agree to give Fwunk.com rights to modify (i.e., master for release) and distribute your music.
- You agree to let Fwunk.com mention your Full Name which corresponds to your music and the CD release project.
Here are the dates:
- Submission deadlines are August 30, 2010 October 31, 2010 (due to insufficient amount of entries).
- Winners will be announced in mid September 2010 November 2010.
To participate in this event, simply reply to this forum with a simple message saying "Count me in!" and we will add you to the list of competing composers.
There will not be any placements of winners. Instead, top composers will be selected. The top 8 composers will receive honorable mention in our newsletter article in September 2010. This article will be published to the front page of Fwunk.com where all site visitors will see and read. This will, undoubtedly, attract more traffic to your profile page giving you more exposure to the music industry. Of course, you may use the article as a valid press coverage of your talents! Use it as a reference for your next gig - whatever that may be. Furthermore, your music will be featured exclusively on an album called "The Best Music of Fwunk.com Volume 1." This CD album will be released on iTunes and a number of other music vendors. 40% of the proceeds will go towards Fwunk for the costs of operating, producing, marketing, promoting and distributing the album while the other 60% will be divided equally amongst all artists involved.
If you have any questions, please ask them here. If there are changes to this contest, it will be posted on this forum as well. Good luck to you all!
